What are builders’ insurance requirements?
You will almost certainly require some form of insurance to get on site as a builder. No matter whether you are sub-contracting or working with a homeowner, it’s likely that they will insist on certain cover types at specific indemnity values as a contractual matter. If you are unsure what cover you need to have in order to get on site, why not speak to an advisor?
Whether working on a construction site or at a private property, Public Liability insurance is the core cover required. Inevitably, you will come in to contact with members of the public on a daily basis. Public Liability insurance protects you against the cost of claims from third parties who say that they have been injured or had their property damaged as a result of your negligence. The value of the cover provided varies. You can buy cover for £1m, £5m or £10m worth of damages as appropriate.
